Welcome to TOG Blog

Here’s my second attempt at running a blog site to host my writing. Welcome to this little site, and thank you for casting your eye over its contents.

I’m using this as an opportunity to share passions, rooted mainly in nature.

I will explore experimental recipes, write about folklore, show you how to garden with mycelium, and hopefully much more.

I will also publish the occasional thought-piece, which I cannot promise will fit any preconception of what content I should produce, except it will likely also be nature themed in some way!

I have been asked in the past, why pick the name “The Oak Gatherer”? Do you pick acorns a lot? Well, the answer to this line of enquiry is: not really… But Oaks are some of my favourite trees and are symbols of great strength, they are guardians of the forest. I hope to gather others, who, deep down, are Oak trees in the spiritual sense. Strong dependable people, who too, will make fine guardians of our wild spaces.

I have also experimented with making Oak wine, but this is only reason number two on the list!
